BatwaBaskets was founded in 2007 to raise funds for impoverished Batwa pygmy communities in southwest Uganda, East Africa.
Through the basket program, the Batwa are helped twice:
1. The baskets are purchased from the Batwa at a local fair market price, adding to their family income.
2. The baskets are then resold in the U.S., with all the proceeds going to the Batwa Development Program. This allows the Batwa to build homes, purchase land, improve education and agriculture, access healthcare, and develop self-sufficient communities.
Every dollar you spend at BatwaBaskets makes a tremendous difference.
